Texans, Jaguars light up scoreboard for fantasy owners

Keith Hernandez, USA TODAY Sports
  • Matt Schaub puts 527 passing yards and five touchdowns.
  • Chad Henne throws four TDs in relief of Blaine Gabbert
  • Chargers wide receiver Danario Alexander emerges as fantasy option
Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub (8) throws a pass during the third quarter against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Reliant Stadium in Week 11.

The biggest surprise in Sunday action came out of Houston, where an early injury to Blaine Gabbert (shoulder) gave Chad Henne an opportunity to lead the Jacksonville offense. He had a heck of a game, throwing for 354 yards and four touchdowns. He spread the ball around nicely; Justin Blackmon had a monster game with 236 yards and a touchdown, Marcedes Lewis hauled in two scoring catches and Cecil Shorts added a trip to paydirt. Henne has looked rather comfortable in his limited time leading this offense. He shouldn't be a popular waiver wire addition, but it could finally mean that the Jaguars' receiving threats other than Shorts are worth considering.

Matt Schaub led an impressive late-game comeback that led to an overtime victory over the Jags and finished with 527 yards, five touchdowns and an interception. Although he's looked his age at times this season, Andre Johnson proved he still has it, hauling in 14 catches for 273 yards and a score. Houston hasn't been pressed to throw as often as they did in this one, though, since they've held leads frequently and have Arian Foster at their disposal.

Matt Ryan's five-interception day against the Arizona Cardinals also shocked some folks. Julio Jones not being at full speed because of his ankle ailment may have had something to do with it. It also led to a nice performance by Roddy White (8-123-0).

After a couple down weeks, Robert Griffin III was up to his old tricks against the Eagles. He threw four TDs and also ran 12 times for 84 yards. RGIII showed off his arm strength on two deep bombs to Aldrick Robinson and Santana Moss. The rook has had his growing pains, but he remains worthy of QB1 consideration most every week.

In the same game, things continued to spiral out of control for Philadelphia. Nick Foles' first NFL start wasn't what he envisioned; he threw two picks and was unable to find the end zone. Riley Cooper and Brent Celek had five catches each. Look for these two to continue to gain the favor of Foles at the expense of DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. LeSean McCoy, as expected, was heavily involved, but he was carted off the field late in the game after a helmet-to-helmet collision. Bryce Brown is the next man up if McCoy is forced to miss any time. Early word on McCoy is a concussion, so he'll have to pass tests during the week in order to play in Week 11. Keep tabs on this situation.

An ankle injury to Jonathan Stewart led to some more work for DeAngelo Williams in Carolina. Despite the injury, J-Stew still managed to run for 44 yards and a ground score. Williams will see his workload increase if Stewart is forced to miss any time, and Mike Tolbert will likely see an uptick as well.

Trent Richardson ran hard and found some soft spots in the Dallas Cowboys' defense to the tune of 95 yards rushing on 28 carries. He also chipped in six catches for 49 yards. He looked fresh and doesn't appear to be slowing down at all in his rookie voyage as the season winds down.

Mark Ingram led the three-headed rushing attack in New Orleans this week, rushing 12 times for 67 yards and a touchdown. He's using a fresh set of wheels, and his bruising rushing style makes him a nice change of pace for the O. However, with Darren Sproles (hand) on pace to return next week, this already hazy running back picture is sure to become more muddled.

In a loss, Marcel Reece carried the load in Oakland. He eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark and also had four catches for a whopping 90 yards. As long as Darren McFadden (ankle) remains out, Reece will shoulder the load and continue to be a staple in their passing game. Although DMC is nearing the timetable to return from his high ankle sprain, he's a slow healer, so don't bank on him being back next week.

Willis McGahee exited in the first half with a knee injury and did not return. Ronnie Hillman and Lance Ball picked up the slack, although Denver didn't run much in the second half. Hillman should be an addition off the waiver wire even if McGahee's injury isn't serious.

Andy Dalton continues to prove adequate against mediocre defensive units. He put up 230 aerial yards and two touchdowns and also ran one in on a naked bootleg. Mohamed Sanu had just two grabs, but one of them went for six points. He's emerging as a candidate to take attention off of A.J. Green down the stretch as Cincy's No. 2 wideout.

Bilal Powell is back from his concussion and reaped the benefits immediately against the St. Louis Rams with two touchdowns on just 11 carries. Shonn Greene remains the primary back in New York, but his already shaky value takes a bigger hit if Rex Ryan continues to use Powell as a goal-line back.

James Starks is clearly the lead back in Green Bay now, at least until Cedric Benson makes his return. Starks had 25 totes for 74 yards as the Pack edged their division foes 24-20.

It's now obvious that Danario Alexander is one of Philip Rivers' favorite targets. The recently acquired wideout had seven catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
