Cubs use Smash Mouth lyrics to troll A's about Russell

Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell hits a grand slam against the Cleveland Indians in the third inning in game six of the 2016 World Series at Progressive Field.

Addison Russell hit a huge grand slam in the third inning of Tuesday's Game 6 of the World Series. In 2014, Russell was traded to the Cubs from Oakland. Sure, it's been two years, but the Cubs' Twitter account used that trade and a recent Twitter fight to poke fun at the A's.

Yes, those are lyrics from Smash Mouth's 1999 mega-hit song, "All-Star." The Cubs tweeted that shortly after the grand slam.

It's relevant, I promise.

The A's Twitter account had gotten in a fight with Smash Mouth last week after Smash Mouth tweeted mean things about the A's.

In a now-deleted tweet, the A's said, "Guess you've got it all figured out. Except how to make a hit since 1999."

BURN.

That's a thing that actually happened, and the A's account even apologized to Smash Mouth and offered the band some tickets.

The A's Twitter fight must have been embarrassing enough for the Cubs' social team to bring up a two-year-old trade and compose a troll tweet after one of the biggest hits in Cubs postseason history. Because, why not?
