WASHINGTON - The Cleveland Cavaliers and head coach Tyronn Lue had a pretty spectacular day at the White House meeting President Obama. But in between jokes and taking selfies with the First Lady, head coach Tyronn Lue took a minute to reflect on the importance of the occasion.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony in the Rose Garden, Lue spoke about why it was so important to visit President Obama while he was still in office.

Lue said he wanted the chance to meet the first black President especially because 85 to 90 percent of the players on the team are African-American. He also underscored how much the moment meant to his family.

"You grow up as a kid and growing up in the atmosphere and environment that we grew up in and seeing the first black President and being alive for that and how much it meant for my grandmother and my mom and my family. And to get to experience that and to see him in office and to meet him, its an unbelievable feeling. To bring our players here to see that, to experience that.

We have a crazy group, we have a funny group and to see how happy they were and how they enjoyed it this moment, it just really means a lot to me and it shows how much it meant to them."

During their trip, the team met with attorney general Loretta Lynch and White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett to discuss bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community in Cleveland. Lue says he is perfectly fine with his players being active when it comes to social issues.

"You have the freedom to do what you want, whatever you believe in and whatever you support you have the right to do that so for our players, for our organization whatever your belief is, go with it."
