J.R. Smith very excited to talk about Kevin Love

Kevin Love caught on fire in the first quarter against the Trail Blazers and dropped a record 34 points on Wednesday night. At the half, J.R. Smith, a man known to launch jumpers and who believes open shots are boring, was pumped to talk about his teammate's hot start.

Smith began his on-court interview by excitedly saying, "Please tell me we about to talk about Kev! Please tell me we about to talk about Kev!"

Smith went on to say that he has never seen anything like what Love managed to do in the first quarter. Then, he shared what advice he gave Love:

"Keep shooting. Wherever you at in your mind mentally, stay there. We need that, and he needs that - for his confidence and for our team's confidence. We had a bad couple practices since we had the days off, but I mean, he's shooting the hell out of the ball."

Love had zero points in the second quarter. We'll see if he takes Smith's advice in the second half.

Update: Love didn't score much more - only six points in the second half. However, on the opposing team, Damian Lillard ignited for 40. The Cavs won, 137-125.
