Russell Westbrook throws ball at ref, hits him in the face

Russell Westbrook nailed a referee in the head with a basketball on Wednesday night in the first quarter of the Thunder-Hornets game. It really looked like a huge accident, but he was given a technical for it.

Westbrook was furious about the whole thing, and, as ESPN's Royce Young noted, the Thunder guard may have also been upset about a couple no-calls that happened before the technical.

Update: The Thunder lost to the Hornets.

After the game, Westbrook told reporters that he called the ref's name before throwing the ball and that he definitely did not his the ref on purpose.
