NFL: Alex Smith's impressive run ended with a vicious hit

Andrew Joseph
For The Win

Alex Smith should consider getting out of bounds in the future - just a suggestion.

During Sunday's game against the Falcons, Smith somehow escaped what looked to be a sure sack. Both Vic Beasley and Grady Jarrett had hold of the Redskins quarterback, but in an astonishing turn of events, Smith escaped and turned up field with plenty of open space in front of him.

It looked like he was going to go for a touchdown, but then Brian Poole brought us all back to reality.

I mean, ouch. That hurt me through the TV.

Poole's hit was clean, as he led with his shoulder. And Smith was OK - he got up laughing about the hit.

But it really would be a good idea to get out of bounds should that situation come up again. Unless Smith enjoys taking vicious hits for no reason, the sideline is there to help.
