Report: Sean Payton destroyed fire alarm before Saints-Bengals game

The New Orleans Saints continued to look like a juggernaut in their 51-14 win over the Bengals on Sunday, but head coach Sean Payton was furious in the minutes leading up to the game.

According to nola.com, the fire alarms were activated for about 15 minutes ahead of the game at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati. The loud sound and timing of the alarm weren't ideal for the Saints as they tried to focus in on their pregame routine.

Payton, though, went a bit too far in stopping the distraction. He evidently smashed the fire alarm in the visiting locker room.

There could be legal ramifications of destroying a fire alarm - not to mention the actual property damage done to the stadium. The Bengals told nola.com that they have reached out to authorities about the damage.

It's unclear if there will be any penalty for Payton damaging the alarm, but the Bengals have alerted the authorities.

"We are aware of this situation and have been in touch with the authorities, but have nothing more on it at this time," the Bengals said in a statement to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune.
