Christian Hackenberg had an awful Alliance of American Football debut for Memphis Express

Former NFL quarterback Christian Hackenberg, whose middle name is Blaize, made his return to the gridiron on Sunday as a member of the Alliance of American Football's Memphis Express. It did not go well.

Hackenberg was a second-round pick by the Jets in 2016, but never played a down in an NFL game. He was out of the league by 2018, and judging from Sunday's game, it was pretty easy to tell why. The dude is not very good at quarterback (by professional standards).

He also had a problem with keeping the AAF's mic'd-up quarterbacks feature safe for daytime broadcasts. This was a sample of Hackenberg's rough afternoon against the Birmingham Iron (Warning: NSFW language).

After throwing a pass to nobody while staring down the pass rusher, Hackenberg again pointed and started cursing.

His first-half stats were … not good.

Hackenberg finished the game 10 of 23 passing for 87 yards and an interception. He was sacked twice. The Express lost, 26-0.
