Tom Brady has come a long way since he split his pants on national TV

Remember last May when we were still really early into the COVID-19 lockdowns and there wasn’t all that much live sports to watch on TV because of the global pandemic?

Then remember how Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady stepped in to entertain us with a goofy golf match that had all four of the legends mic’d up on a rainy day in Florida?

Then remember how bad bad Brady was at golf on that day?

He was so bad Charles Barkley was making fun of him.

Brady then shut everybody up by sinking an approach shot from 150 yards out for birdie… only to split his pants while picking the ball out of the cup.

It was a wild day for the GOAT, one that had all of us laughing at what then looked like a mere mortal as he played a poor round of golf that reminded us of all of our own weekend-hacker golf games.

There was this 42-year-old man (at the time) struggling the way the rest of us old-ish people struggle at things.

We all made fun of him because, man, Brady was very un-Brady on that day. He had never been more relatable to all of us who watch pro sports from our couches and were used to seeing him be so clutch on the biggest stages.

That day now seems like it was years ago because just two nights ago Brady was back to being the opposite of us all again as he took down the Chiefs with three touchdowns on his way to his seventh Super Bowl title.

Now that guy who struggled in golf and was called “washed” by many people throughout this past NFL season is enjoying this latest championship of his, as he should.

Yesterday his Instagram recap of the win was tremendous. The mic’d up conversation he had with Rob Gronkowski after the win was hilarious. And the moment he had with his family on the field was so special.

It seems like this 43-year-old QB suddenly has a lot of life still left in that football tank of his. The Bucs may not be the early favorites to win it all next season, but you have to think some good veteran free agents are going to want to jump on the Bucs and try to win a championship with the GOAT. Also, that defense on Sunday was so darn good and will be back for more in 2021.

Brady is no longer that relatable guy who was knocking his golf ball all over a really nice private course last May. Back then he was coming off a bad end to a legendary career in New England. Nobody was sure what he had left or what he could do for a Tampa team that hadn’t won a lot in recent years.

But now he’s back to being the GOAT, a sight that has been so familiar over the years and one that doesn’t appear to be going away any time soon.
