The Buffalo Sabres have the saddest current streak in sports
I donât know how much youâve been following the NHL this season but one team has been on a really bad slide lately and itâs getting to be pretty sad.
That team Iâm talking about is the Buffalo Sabres, who lost to the Penguins, 4-0, in Pittsburgh on Thursday to extend their losing streak to an incredibly sad 16 games.
The Sabres have only won six games this season. Last week they fired their head coach and then last night their GM, Kevyn Adams, had to jump in behind the bench and coach the team after interim coach Don Granato and assistant Matt Ellis were ruled out due to the NHLâs COVID-19 protocols.
I mean, how crazy can it get for Buffalo?!
Adams, who has built this bad team, said this before the game:
âFor me, Iâm comfortable,â Adams said about 90 minutes before the Sabres took a 15-game winless streak onto the ice against the Penguins. âObviously, Iâve been watching every game, and with the team all season. I know the team really well, the personnel â I know the tendencies.â
Uh, yeah those tendencies are to lose games, apparently.
The Sabres have been outscored 67-30 during this losing streak. Theyâve been shutout six times. Theyâve scored two goals or less in 13 of those games. They lost one game in a shootout and one game in overtime. The rest have been just straight losses, which isnât great at all.
This past week the Rockets lose their 20th straight game and we saw how much of a toll it took on its head coach, Stephen Silas. A day after that loss they went out and beat the Raptors and shared some special moments.
Losing is hard, no matter what sport youâre playing or whatever you doing in your life. I feel like losing 16 straight in hockey is a lot harder to pull off than 20 in basketball just because the puck has to bounce your way ever now and then, right? Right!?
Well, no pucks have been bouncing Buffaloâs way for quite a while and maybe I can can jinx them into a win like I did with the Rockets (Iâll take all the credit for that win!). Even if you donât watch hockey, send some good thoughts to the Sabres. Losing in the worst.
Letâs get them a win.
