Brooks Koepka continues to crush Bryson DeChambeau where it matters most

Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau have been feuding for a while now, which is something all golf fans know by now.

Yes, some of it might feel a bit contrived. But some of it does feel pretty personal and sure, a bit petty.

All of it, though, is something that is fun for professional golf.

But for this feud to become a real rivalry these two need to be involved in a showdown on an actual golf course instead of on Twitter or Instagram because that's where this whole thing will take off. Until then it's just two rich dudes talking trash online.

We almost had a chance to see that happen this weekend at the U.S. Open but then something wild happened - Bryson DeChambeau completely fell apart on the back 9, lost his lead, and finished T-26.

You know where Brooksy finished? T-4 after a final round 2-under 69.

That is more proof as to why this isn't a rivalry at all. Right now Koepka owns DeChambeau on the golf course. Just look at this stat that Golf Digest's Daniel Rapaport pointed out after Sunday's final round: "After Bryson's implosion…Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau have played in the same major 17 times. Brooks has finished higher than Bryson in 15 of those."

DeChambeau has won just one major in his career - last year's U.S. Open. Kopeka has won four majors and has been in contention in what feels like a million of them.

Koepka can talk all the trash he wants because he has done so much more on the golf course than the protein-swilling DeChambeau has done.

This isn't close to a rivalry right now and won't be for a while if DeChambeau can't get things done on a Sunday at a major. What happened to him yesterday was pretty wild. A 77 in his final round after a near ace on the 8th hole gave him the lead? Not great.

Koepka, meanwhile, shows up to majors with a swagger about him and can usually be found near the top of the leaderboards come Sunday afternoons. He was right there again for a while on Sunday, even though he went out much earlier than the leaders. The leaders saw his name climbing the board and knew what he could do. That's the energy he brings to these things.

So yeah, the social media spats between Koepka and DeChambeau can be fun at times but that's not what is going to take the thing to a whole new level. We need them on a Sunday, going head-to-head in front of screaming crowds while playing for the biggest championships in golf.

Until then, Bryson might want to watch what he says about Brooksy. Because the numbers speak for themselves.
