One pre-draft scouting report for Ben Simmons from 2016 proved to be absolutely spot on

When the Philadelphia 76ers selected Ben Simmons with the top pick in the 2016 NBA draft, it was supposed to be a turning point for "The Process." At the time, Joel Embiid had yet to play a game due to injury, but the Sixers had two players with legitimate superstar potential to build around.

Fast forward five years, and the Sixers - despite consistently being near the top of the East - have yet to advance beyond the second round in the playoffs. Simmons, who was blamed for the second-round loss to Atlanta, demanded a trade and was booted out of practice (which came after initially refusing to report to the Sixers).

Now, if only someone could have seen this kind of behavior coming from Simmons … Oh, right, Jonathan Givony did.

In the aftermath of the latest layer to the Ben Simmons saga, fans revisited Givony’s 2016 pre-draft scouting report for Simmons. At the time, Simmons was the presumptive top pick despite a losing season at LSU. There were questions about Simmons’ maturity, but Givony’s scouting report proved to be especially prophetic.

He wrote:

"Simmons’ lack of competitiveness in crucial games has raised questions about his character … Those who know him best say he needs things to revolve around him on and off the court and that he’s often been close-minded to coaching or instruction.

I mean, that’s pretty spot on from what we’ve seen. Simmons was a non-factor in the postseason and became more passive as the stakes got higher. And he took criticism from Doc Rivers and Joel Embiid as a personal attack instead of an attempt to make him better."

Givony really did see this all coming. NBA fans were impressed.
