How does Urban Meyer still have a job?

For The Win

This is the Morning Win, by Andy Nesbitt.

Urban Meyer's tenure with the Jaguars has been a predictable disaster and it's one that should come to an end, like five minutes ago.

The latest embarrassing turn came over the weekend when reports came out that he called out assistant coaches in a staff meeting and made them defend their resumes and prove that they have once been winners in their lives.

It was also reported that he had an incident with veteran wide receiver Marvin Jones, who reportedly had to be talked into coming back to practice after getting upset with Meyer's comments about the team's wide receivers.

It has all been a mess, pretty much since the beginning when Meyer was brought on as head coach and instantly starting making bad decisions.

Now, it's just bad, sad, and unfixable and it's time for him to go.

The Jaguars lost to the Titans yesterday, 20-0. Trevor Lawrence threw a career high 4 interceptions and James Robinson led the team in rushing with 4 yards on six carries.

Oh, and the offense had just 184 total yards. It was the third time this year that the team failed to reach 200 total yards, which is a franchise record.

Let those number sink in a bit. Because those numbers are embarrassing and tell a sad story.

That game had the look of a team that has quit on its coach and if they have then good for them, because Meyer deserves to be quit on.

Meyer handled yesterday's loss like a bitter child who doesn't like it when someone tells him the truth about his skills, or lack thereof. He barely shook Mike Vrabel's hand and then gave some really awful answers to questions during his press conference.

Jaguars owner Shad Khan invested a lot of money into Meyer with hopes that the former college coach could turn the franchise around. Instead, Meyer has made the Jaguars the laughingstock of the league with that night at the bar and the other lame things he has done throughout the season.

Imagine spending all that money on Meyer and then seeing how he acted after yesterday's game? It's a slap in the face to the owner, the team, and all the fans who root for the franchise.

Oh, and the Jaguars are now 2-11 and their No. 1 pick has one TD pass in the last six games.

The Jags are bad off the field thanks to Meyer and the Jags are bad on the field thanks to Meyer. His boss can't be happy about either of those things.

There are no upsides here. There are no growing pains going on. There isn't any hope, really. Just look at the coach's body language and words after yesterday's loss. When the guy at the top acts like that how do you think the guys who work for him are going to feel about things?

Things are ugly right now for the Jags and they are only going to get worse over the final four weeks of another completely lost season for Jacksonville.

As of this writing Meyer still has a job with the Jaguars. Hopefully that changes soon. Because the players and fans deserve a lot better than that guy.
