  • Beljan said a battery of tests at hospital revealed no serious problems.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Charlie Beljan, a day after repeatedly telling his caddie that he thought he was going to die during Friday's second round and then being hospitalized with an increased heart rate, high blood pressure and numbness in his arms, is on the course for today's third round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic at Walt Disney World Resort.

Beljan, who is No. 139 on the PGA Tour's money list and needs to get to the top 125 to earn his Tour card for next season, grabbed the 36-hole lead with an 8-under-par 64 in the second round. But Beljan, who is stood at 12-under and led by three shots after two rounds, received medical attention before the second round and throughout his long trip around the Palm Course.

"I'm feeling better than yesterday, but still not great," Beljan said Saturday before he went to the practice range to warm up. "Yesterday I honestly feared for my life. It was probably the hardest day of my life.

Charlie Beljan was back on the course Saturday for the third round of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic in Lake Buena Vista, a day after suffering day-long symptoms of an anxiety attack en route to a 64 and the tournament lead.

"They ran all the bunch of different CAT scans, X-rays, blood work making sure that everything was OK. The end result was that they think that everything was OK.That's why I'm here today.

"… Still not feeling that great, but shoot, the position I'm in, it's kind of hard not to show up. We'll give it a whirl, give it our best shot. (It was) maybe an anxiety or panic attack that kind of spun out of control, having to fight it for six hours or so. But yeah, as far as blood work, the CAT scan, the lungs, the heart, everything was wonderful, which is a huge relief. But still,I'm going to have to go back out there and kind of face the feelings today. Who knows if today will last two holes or 18 holes? We're just going to take it one shot at a time, which I did yesterday and ended up pretty good."

Beljan struggled at the start on Saturday, with two bogeys in the first three holes, but he responded with two birdies to get back to 12-under (even for the day) after eight holes, one shot behind Brian Gay.

Beljan said he had his golf shoes on at the hospital until 4:30 a.m. and didn't know he had a three-shot lead until late last night. Beljan said he slept for just one hour before getting ready to head to the golf course.

Beljan began hyperventilating early in the second round but manage to shoot 64. He walked slowly, bent over numerous times and had to take a seat on multiple occasions to try and catch his breath. Standing over the golf ball before hitting a shot, Beljan said, was not hard. The time between shots, however, was difficult.

"That was the hardest part," he said. "I would gather myself for 30 seconds and I actually felt almost normal, but then between the shots it was ‑‑ I mean yesterday I honestly feared for my life. I had the paramedics check me out before I even teed off. I don't even remember the round yesterday. I actually remembered at one time on 15 wondering if I was going to make the cut. And yeah, it was a wild day and it was a fearful day, and hopefully we'll put that behind us and have a great one today.

"If I can keep my mind straight and keep thinking in the right direction and not let my body take over what it thinks is actually happening, then I think I'll be OK."

Beljan teed off on the Magnolia Course at 10:55 a.m. ET, playing in the final group alongside Ryuji Imada and Harris English.
