Get a grip, folks β€” even when it's raining.

Golf is tough enough when the sun is shining and the wind is down and impending bad weather is 1,000 miles away. But the game can get downright, head-scratching, throw-a-few clubs frustrating when clouds are hovering above and spitting rain. It is during these times that one of the easiest things to do in golf β€” actually picking up a club and gripping it β€” becomes as difficult as a 3-foot putt with two feet of break in it. A little bit of water β€” or a bunch of H2O β€” changes the whole process of the swing, and the common combatant is to grip the club as strongly as you can, which, of course, is not among the hundreds of lessons a swing coach distills.

Bionic Golf, however, can ease the aggravation and make playing in the rain more enjoyable. Along with scores of other technological advances in the sport, Bionic Golf has taken the golf glove to a new level.

Its latest product is appropriately named β€” the Aqua Grip.

Designed by an orthopedic hand surgeon, the Aqua features suede microfiber material that is more durable than a traditional leather glove and becomes tackier when wet to reduce club slippage. A patented pad system evens out the surface of your hand for a lighter, more secure grip. As well, a double row finger grip system promotes a lighter, more stable grip.

In all, 12 anatomical pads and 12 ergonomic motion zones across the knuckles allow for a lighter grip and better club control.

While it looks a tad bulky, the glove is far from cumbersome. The technical reasoning behind this includes Lycra motion web zones, a strategically placed pad system and patented pre-rotated finger designs. In laymen's terms, the glove is comfortable, durable and sticks to the club. And it's an all-weather glove, too, so on the driest of days, it works. A dry hand, a sweaty hand or a soaked hand, the glove works.

In John Daly's words, you can rip it and grip it even in the pouring rain.

There is no gimmickry here. This glove does work. As advertised, the glove, even after holding it under a faucet spewing a steady stream of water, is usable without choking the grip of the club. So feel free to freely go out in the rain and play a round of golf. You will have no problems holding the club with the Aqua Grip glove.
