Flamboyant wins US debut at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) β Flamboyant won the $75,000 La Puente Stakes by a neck in his U.S. debut at Santa Anita on Saturday.
Ridden by Corey Nakatani, Flamboyant ran 1 1/8 miles on the turf in 1:47.45 and paid $15, $7 and $3.60 at 6-1 odds in the field of eight.
Home Run Kitten returned $4.20 and $2.60, while Enterprising was another 1Β½ lengths back in third and paid $2.10 to show as the 6-5 favorite.
France-bred Flamboyant was purchased after a second-place finish in a minor stakes in mid-January. His co-owner Chuck Winner is chairman of the California Horse Racing Board.
The victory, worth $47,400, increased Flamboyant's career earnings to $92,788, with two wins in six starts.
