Diamondbacksā Adam Jones has Petco Park fan ejected for vulgar language
SAN DIEGO ā Diamondbacks right fielder Adam Jones said a fan in right field at Petco Park was berating him with profane language on Wednesday, and he spoke with ballpark security to have the fan removed from the game.
Jones has had past incidents with fans spewing racial insults ā notably at Fenway Park in 2017 ā but he said this did not rise to that level.
āThese fans in sports, man, theyāre starting to get a little more brazen,ā Jones said. āIāve said it many times, and obviously Iāve had altercations with fans. My biggest thing is, keep the banter polite ā we suck, I struck out, the teamās not good. Keep it light, keep it smart. Thereās kids in the stadium. But the second you start cussing me out like Iām a little kid, thatās a no-no.
āOn the street, theyād never do that. In the ballpark when youāve paid your admission, thereās no need for all that stuff. The second I hear somebody cussing us out, youāre gone. I could care less that theyāre gone. Thatās just how it is. I made a nice play, and just hearing the B-word, F-word, thatās not baseball talk. So ā¦ he gone.ā

Jones heard the fan when he ranged toward the right-field corner in the fifth inning to catch a drive off the bat of the Padresā Eric Hosmer.
Jones was even more disappointed ā and baffled ā that the incident occurred here in his hometown.
āLast night, we had some people being real ignorant above our dugout,ā Jones said. āI told them, āIām from San Diego. Watch what you say to me. Iām from here. That means all my boys is here. So, be aware.ā ā
