Diamondbacks announcer Bob Brenly mocks Marcus Stromanā€™s du-rag during broadcast

(CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS: A previous version of this story misidentified the Arizona Diamondbacks' home TV network. It is Bally Sports Arizona.)

Arizona Diamondbacks announcer Bob Brenly mocked the du-rag of New York Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman during Tuesday night's game, a comment that drew attention from Stroman for what he called "racist undertones."

During the second inning, Bally Sports Arizona play-by-play partner Steve Berthiaume was talking about the split changeup from Stroman when the pitcher was getting ready to deliver a pitch. As the camera focused on Stroman, Brenly said, "Pretty sure thatā€™s the same du-rag that Tom Seaver used to wear when he pitched for the Mets."

"Got the 41 patch on the sleeve right there,ā€ Berthiaume replied.

After the 6-5 loss to the Diamondbacks, Stroman took to Twitter to retweet several posts and comment on the incident.

Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman gave up three earned runs in six innings against Arizona on Tuesday night.

He wrote: "Onward and upwardā€¦through all adversity and racist undertones. The climb continues through all!ā€

A Diamondbacks spokesperson said the club was investigating the incident: "We were made aware, are reviewing it and will have internal conversations about the situation before commenting further."

One of Stroman's retweets read: "This is racist and it is unacceptable. Stroman deserves an apology. A league and its teams, forever pledging commitment to increased inclusivity, need to demand better."

He also quote-tweeted a post with, "Since I canā€™t say it because media will turn this against me somehow." The post said: "I am not surprised by this type of language towards African-American athletes. Itā€™s the blatant racism and itā€™s been going on for a long time.

Stroman later posted pictures of himself with the message: ā€œDu-rags coming soon. ā€
