Steve Cohen has logged off.

The Mets owner's Twitter account β€” @StevenACohen2 β€” is no longer active. It had more than 191,000 followers and became a hit for fans because their owner, worth over $14 billion, seemed like one of them. He tweeted like he was a fan himself.

Cohen had a rough week on Twitter, though.

That's because his company, Point72 Asset Management, has lost money because of the GameStop stock surge. The stock fallout has been a big storyline over the week.

In a statement released Saturday, Cohen said his family received personal threats.

β€œI’ve really enjoyed the back and forth with Mets fans on Twitter which was unfortunately overtaken this week by misinformation unrelated to the Mets that led to our family getting personal threats," Cohen said. "So I’m going to take a break for now. We have other ways to listen to your suggestions and remain committed to doing that. I love our team, this community, and our fans, who are the best in baseball.  Bottom line is that this week’s events in no way affect our resources and drive to put a championship team on the field.#LGM!”

Of course, fans β€” and people everywhere β€” talked about this a ton. Many tweets at Cohen were not friendly.

That said, the Mets owner gave no reason for his Twitter exit.

Ironically, Cohen said in November that he loved Twitter and interacting with fans. He even said that he anticipated rough times, such as a five-game losing streak, that might make for a tougher crowd on the social media platform. But he said he would continue tweeting.

Cohen purchased the Mets in November and is MLB's richest owner.

Will he log back on at some point?

We'll see.
