Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels says Major League Baseball investigators are looking into a tweet sent from pitcher Derek Holland's account responding to a heckler during Sunday's game with a homophobic slur.

Holland told Daniels he did not send the offensive tweet, which was sent while Holland was pitching against the Los Angeles Angels. He was approached by a public relations official after he was taken out of the game.

"I was blindsided by it," said Holland. "I had no idea. I'm pretty upset with the whole situation and me being accused of something I haven't done.

"I know it wasn't myself," he said. "I've talked to my family and my fiancé. They all said the exact same thing: It wasn't them. I have no idea (who did it). The only thing I know is MLB is taking care of it and they're going to help me out and figure out who it was.''

Holland says his fiancé is the only other person who has access to his Twitter account, @Dutch_Oven45.

"It's a serious issue," Daniels said. "it's not an acceptable term to use."
