CARSON, Calif. -- Goodbye, David Beckham.

Goodbye, Landon Donovan?

As Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy basks in their second consecutive MLS Cup championship -- and fourth overall -- the future for the club's two biggest personalities during the past six seasons remains unsettled.

Beckham, who arrived in 2007, continues to be the focus of speculation after announcing Nov. 19 that MLS Cup 2012 would be his last game with the Galaxy.

Donovan, meanwhile, plans to take an indeterminate sabbatical before choosing when -- or whether -- to resume playing.

The Galaxy captain, who suffered numerous injuries this year, has been ruminating publicly for months about his career.

"I haven't made a decision in the last few days," Donovan said Saturday after Los Angeles defeated the Houston Dynamo 3-1. "We're going to enjoy this, go on a nice vacation and we'll figure out what's next."

For Beckham, the next step could mean playing in France, Australia, China, Russia, Brazil -- or back in England.

AS Monaco executive Tor-Kristen Karlsen told Britain's Sky Sports on Friday that his club has interest in signing Beckham, who declined the option on the two-year contract he signed with MLS in January.

Paris Saint-Germain and two London clubs, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham United, also have been linked to the former captain of England's national team.

"There are a lot of rumors about where I'm going to play, what we're going to do, where we're going to live," Beckham said about his family. "We actually haven't made up our minds where we're going to end up. It's a big decision."

Beckham said he would not make a public announcement about his future until after Christmas.

Donovan's choices appear more existential. Does the U.S. national team's all-time leading scorer feel burnt out?

"I guess you could describe it that way," Donovan said. "It's not a 'woe-is-me' story but I have to listen to my heart and my gut. Right now, my gut says to get away for awhile."

A personal encounter reinforced Donovan's decision.

"I had a really nice moment where my sister just had a baby," Donovan said. "She got to come down on the field and he was sleeping on her. It sort of puts it all in perspective.

"I want to be close to my family for awhile. I can figure out the soccer later."
