KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Shkelzen Gashi scored his first MLS goal in the 82nd minute and the Colorado Rapids beat Sporting Kansas City 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Gashi followed as Dillon Serna's 35-yard knuckler crashed off the crossbar and finished the rebound with a left-footed kick. The Rapids (3-2-1) acquired Gashi as a designated player prior to the season.

Luis Solignac gave Colorado the early lead, slotting one past goalkeeper Tim Melia inside the near post in the 41st minute. Sporting KC (4-2-0) tied it in the 77th minute when Dom Dwyer slipped away from the defender Bobby Burling in the middle of the area for an open header off Connor Hallisey's cross.

FC DALLAS 3, TIMBERS 1

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Michael Barrios, Fabian Castillo and Tesho Akindele scored in the first 26 minutes in FC Dallas' victory over Portland.

In the fourth minute, Jack Jewsbury's turnover allowed Akindele to charge into the Portland penalty area and lay off a pass to Barrios, who calmly slid a shot past Portland goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey for his third goal of the season. Another turnover by Jewsbury in the 26th minute allowed Castillo to race to the top of the area, where he chipped a shot over an onrushing Kwarasey for his second goal.

Three minutes later, a miscued shot attempt by Castillo went right to Akindele, whose shot deflected off defender Jermain Taylor and between Kwarasey's legs for his third goal.

Dallas improved tp 4-1-2, and Portland dropped to 1-3-2.

EARTHQUAKES 2, RED BULLS 0

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Fatai Alashe and Chris Wondolowski scored to help San Jose beat New York.

Wondolowski made it 2-0 in the 55th minute with his fifth goal in the season. He headed down Shea Salinas' cross from the top of the 6-yard box and joined Ante Razov in fourth place on the MLS career goals list with 114.

Alashe scored off a deflection in the 40th minute — his shot pinged off defender Kemar Lawrence and bounded past a crowd of defenders and goalkeeper Luis Robles.

The Earthquakes (3-1-2) snapped their three-game winless streak since opening the season with back-to-back wins. The Red Bulls (1-5-0) have gone scoreless in all five of their losses.
