The IndyCar Series returns to action this weekend for the Honda Indy 200 on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, a 13-turn, 2.258 permanent road course. The race is 80 laps (180.64 miles) and will feature the debut of IndyCar's hybrid engine.
The hybrid assist unit, which fits inside the current chassis, will produce 120 additional horsepower during push-to-pass use (up from 60 hp under the old system). Also, drivers who are stalled should be able to quickly restart the car without help from the safety team. That would lessen laps run under caution.
Alex Palou comes to Mid-Ohio with all the momentum, winning two weeks ago at Monterey, Calif., to take the series points lead. Palou also won at Mid-Ohio in 2023.
