Richard Childress named Brian Scott to replace Elliott Sadler in the Nationwide Series in 2013.

Sadler, runner-up for the championship the past two seasons, signed with Joe Gibbs Racing in mid-November.

Scott, 24, has run full-time on the Nationwide circuit since 2010, the last two seasons with JGR. His best season finish was eighth in 2011.

He has 23 top-10s in 109 starts.

"I am thrilled to have this opportunity to drive the No. 2 for Richard Childress Racing," said Scott in a release from RCR. "RCR has proven over the past 13 years that it can build and prepare winning cars in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and has for a variety of drivers. I just want to be the next name on that list. RCR has a rich tradition of winning races and championships at the highest level of our sport and I am excited about being a part of an organization, like theirs, that is committed to winning.

"Our goals for 2013 are going to be set at a high level. On a personal level I think I am going to fit in really well."

Scott was runner-up for Nationwide rookie of the year in 2010.

According to the release, Phil Gould, car chief for the No. 2 team in 2012, will be Scott's crew chief.
