Sprint Cup at Texas: Start time, lineup, TV schedule and more

FORT WORTH, Tex. — It’s NASCAR race day at Texas Motor Speedway, and we’ve got all the information you need to get ready for today’s Sprint Cup race.

Jimmie Johnson, who won at Texas last fall, has already clinched a spot in the Chase finale.

START TIME: Actor Dennis Quaid will instruct drivers to start their engines at 1:56 p.m. ET, followed by the green flag at 2:04.

RACE DISTANCE: The AAA 500 is 344 laps, 501 miles around the 1.5-mile track.

NATIONAL ANTHEM/FLYOVER: Two USAF F-4 Phantoms will execute a flyover. The national anthem will be performed by the U.S. Army 1st Cavalry Division Band.

Kyle Busch goes to backup car for Chase race in Texas

TV/RADIO SCHEDULE: NBC will broadcast the race on TV and has a pre-race show beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Performance Racing Network (MRN) and Sirius/XM Radio will call the race on the radio.

LIVE STREAMING: NBC offers a live stream on its NBC Sports app.

WEATHER: According to the National Weather Service, a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 73.

LAST TIME:  Jimmie Johnson led just six laps, but was out front for the final four, holding off the dominant car of Brad Keselowski to deny the Chase-eligible Keselowski a crucial win last fall.

Tony Stewart bobblehead coming to Chase race

STARTING LINEUP:Austin Dillon won his third career pole (second this season) with a best lap of 192.301 mph in Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 Chevrolet. Drivers still eligible to win the championship claimed five of the top ten spots.
