NBA coronavirus updates: Wednesday's Suns-Hawks game postponed

The NBA postponed Wednesday's game between the Phoenix Suns and the Atlanta Hawks in Arizona, because of what the league described as "ongoing contact tracing within the Suns."

The NBA's latest injury report, updated at 8:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, shows the Suns listing only Jalen Smith out because of health and safety protocols. But the NBA said in a statement that the Suns do not have the league-required eight players available.

This marks the seventh game the NBA has postponed this season because of issues related to positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing, including the sixth this week.

The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association agreed on Tuesday to various enhanced protocols for at least the next two weeks in hopes of to rectify the most recent developments.

The most notable changes involve requiring all players, coaches and staff members to stay at their home or hotel room in between games and practices either at home or on the road. People also are not allowed to bring any outside guests to their hotels. 

Before tweaking those protocols, the NBA had already required participants to be tested daily, wear masks outside of games and stay away from public settings that include more than 15 people. 

Friday's Wizards-Pistons & Suns-Warriors postponed

The NBA announced that those two games will be postponed because neither the Wizards nor the Suns have eight available players for a game.
