If the NBA is looking for a cross-promotional event with pro wrestling or mixed-martial arts, the Morris Brothers (Marcus and Markieff) vs. the Jokic Brothers (Strahinja and Nemanja) would be appointment viewing.
After an altercation involving Denverās Nikola Jokic and Miamiās Markieff Morris late in the fourth quarter of the Nuggetsā victory on Monday, the Jokic brothers took to social media.
In response to a tweet from Marcus Morris, the hulking Jokic brothers opened a twitter account Tuesday morning -- @JokicBrothers ā and responded:
āYou should leave this the way it is instead of publicly threatening our brother! Your brother made a dirty play first . If you want to make a step further be sure we will be waiting for you !! Jokic Brothersā
The Morris brothers are tough costumers, but the Jokic brothers bring brute Serbian strength to the equation. Both sets of brothers have had their separate altercations on and off the court (legal issues included), and the Jokic brothers are not strangers to yelling at players of Denverās opponents. Nemanja Jokic has participated in low-level MMA fights.
Unrealistic scenarios aside, the NBA will adjudicate.
On Monday, Markieff Morris delivered a hard foul to Jokic with 2:39 left in the fourth quarter and the Nuggets ahead 111-94. Jokic delivered a violent forearm hit to Morrisā back, and Morris laid on the court injured.
Jokic, last season's MVP, was ejected, Morris was issued a flagrant foul, Miamiās Jimmy Butler received a technical foul. Fines and suspensions are anticipated after the NBA investigates.
Denver travels to Miami for a Nov. 29 rematch.
