LeBron James looked upset.

Not only did the Los Angeles Lakers star seem irked that he missed a shot toward the end of the third quarter against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. He also looked irritated at someone on the sideline.

“I know who he is. He’s part of the front office group,” James said. “He was really excited about that shot a little bit more extra than I would have liked. But he got to root for his team, obviously. He showcased that. I know I had another quarter. The fourth quarter is my favorite.”

So, James then ensured the Lakers finished with a 115-108 win over his former team by recording a season-high 46 points, including 21 points in the fourth quarter, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks.

James respectfully declined to name the person in the Cavaliers’ front office who drew his ire. But after using the jeer as motivation James forewarned that, “the good thing for him is I only come here once.”

James, an Akron, Ohio, native who spent 11 years in two stints with the Cavs and helped them win an NBA championship four years ago, could not stay at his mother’s house this trip because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols. But James still had some face time with his mother and uncle and he also got to enjoy some of his mom’s cooking.

The Cavs’ front office caught James’ attention this visit, just like when team owner Dan Gilbert wrote a disgruntled letter criticizing him for leaving Cleveland for Miami as a free agent over 10 years ago.

“It’s someone I know, for sure,” James said of Monday night's vocal front office member. “I felt like he was just a little too excited about seeing me miss.”
