Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond (0) and forward Marcus Morris (13) defend against Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The NBA will not penalize Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond for delivering an elbow that connected with Cleveland’s LeBron James’ head and neck in Game 3, a person familiar with the situation told USA TODAY Sports.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the ruling had not been made public.

James has received a couple of elbows in this series – two from Drummond and one from Marcus Morris.

Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said no comment after two questions regarding Drummond’s elbow. Game 4 is Sunday, and the Cavaliers, up 3-0 in the series, can sweep the Pistons with a victory.

After Game 3, LeBron James said, “Our team and our front office and the people that handle that will cover the Drummond play. For me, my focus is now on Sunday … and how I can prepare these guys to get ready to go out there and close these guys out.

“I’m up here, I’m talking, I feel great and I’ll be in a uniform on Sunday. So, that’s what I can control.”
