LAS VEGAS — The Phoenix Suns officially announced Saturday the re-signing of wing Josh Okogie.

Okogie agreed to two-year deal for $16 million with the second year non-guaranteed, the Arizona Republic confirmed Friday morning through sources. The contract is for $8 million each year. He declined his player option of $2.95 million last month to enter free agency.

Okogie averaged 6.1 points on 40% shooting (32.6% from 3) in his two seasons with the Suns. Starting 11 of the 60 games he played last season, Okogie averaged 4.6 points on 41.7% shooting (30.9% from 3) for Phoenix in 2023-24.

With Phoenix being over the second tax apron of $188.9 million, Okogie’s salary couldn’t aggregate with other players on the team and it had to be a two-year deal due to being signed with early bird rights, ESPN’s Bobby Marks reported.

The Okogie signing puts the Suns at 15 players for a standard roster. They can have more players for training camp, but must by at 15 start of the 2024-25 regular season.

The Suns have the highest team payroll for the 2024-25 season at $223 million with a projected luxury tax of $198 as Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal are due a combined $150 million.

Booker and Durant are on Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Booker scored nine points in an exhibition win Wednesday over Canada in Las Vegas.

Durant didn't play due a calf strain suffered two weeks ago. ESPN reported Durant missed Saturday's practice and isn't expected to play in Monday's exhibition against Australia in Abu Dhabi.
