Grand jury rejects rape charge against ULM athlete

AP

MONROE, La. (AP) β€” A Louisiana grand jury has rejected a rape charge against a freshman basketball player at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Assistant District Attorney Fred McGaha tells The News-Star (http://tnsne.ws/10xFvii ) that the 4th Judicial District grand jury found Thursday that charges were not warranted against Roderick Taylor.

The 18-year-old from Harker Heights, Texas, is a Warhawks forward. He was suspended from the team and has been doing coursework from home.

The person who filed the complaint against Taylor told investigators she met him on social media, met him on campus, and was raped in an overflow campus parking lot.

Dean of Students Pamela Jackson says the university will now resume its required investigation, which was on hold during the criminal investigation and judicial process.
