McNeese State beats NAIA's LSU-Alexandria 84-68

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) β€” Keelan Garrett was 5 of 11 from long range to total 24 points as McNeese State had a strong second half to beat NAIA's LSU-Alexandria 84-68 on Tuesday night.

Desharick Guidry and Austin Lewis had 15 apiece and Jamaya Burr chipped in 12 for McNeese State (5-3).

LSU-Alexandria led throughout most of the first half with the Cowboys taking a 20-18 lead with 5:12 left and leading just 31-27 at the break. After halftime the Generals stayed close, trailing only 54-50 with 9:36 remaining in the game, until McNeese State made a 12-4 run to lead 67-54 with 6:01 left.

The Cowboys shot 27 of 55 from the floor (49.1 percent) while holding LSU-Alexandria to 26-of-61 shooting (39.3 percent). McNeese State scored 26 points in the paint while limiting the Generals to 22.

Darryl Milburn had 12 points and Deangelo Coelman added 11 for the Generals.
