EL PASO, Texas (AP) β€” Stanley Johnson scored 15 points to help No. 3 Arizona survive a scare in its first true road game of the season, pulling away late for a victory against UTEP.

Gabe York had 13 points and Brandon Ashley added 10 for the Wildcats (12-0), who played eight of their first 11 games at home and three neutral-site games at the Maui Invitational.

Vince Hunter scored 18 points before fouling out with more than eight minutes remaining for the Miners (6-4), who were hosting a top-3 team for the first time in program history. Omega Harris added 10 points.

The Miners led 40-38 with 12:41 to go, but it was all Wildcats after that. Arizona held UTEP without a basket for more than 5 minutes while pushing its lead to 48-41 with a 10-1 run.

EASTERN KENTUCKY 72, No. 18 MIAMI 44

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) β€” Corey Walden scored 18 points to help Eastern Kentucky rout Miami.

The Colonels (6-4) never trailed, led by two at halftime and pulled away with a 22-2 run early in the second half. Isaac McGlone keyed the surge with three 3-pointers, and his third conversion from behind the arc gave Eastern Kentucky a 43-27 lead with 13:21 remaining.

Miami (9-2) was scoreless for an 8:27 stretch until Davon Reed made two free throws with 10:40 left to cut Eastern Kentucky's lead to 43-29.

The Colonels ran off eight straight points on consecutive 3-pointers from Timmy Knipp and Jaylen Babb-Harrison's layup for a 51-29 lead with 8:49 remaining.

Knipp scored 17 points, Eric Stutz added 13 and Knipp had 12.

Sheldon McClellan led the Hurricanes with 14 points.

No. 20 ST. JOHN'S 53, SAINT MARY'S 47

NEW YORK (AP) β€” D'Angelo Harrison scored 21 points and St. John's overcame a 15-point halftime deficit to rally past Saint Mary's.

The Red Storm (9-1) trailed 33-18 at the break. St. John's opened the second half with a 27-8 run to take the lead. Sir'Dominic Pointer added 11 points and 11 rebounds for St. John's.

Brad Waldow had 26 points and 11 rebounds for the Gaels (6-3).
