DURHAM, N.C. (AP) β€” Freshman center Jahlil Okafor scored a season-high 27 points and No. 2 Duke beat pesky Toledo 86-69 on Monday night.

Quinn Cook added a season-best 20 points and Tyus Jones had 15 for Duke (11-0), which was playing its first game since Dec. 18.

The Blue Devils raced out to a big early lead, then allowed Toledo to shoot itself back into the game before eventually pulling away.

Okafor was 12 of 15 from the field while reaching the 20-point mark for the fourth time in six games.

Julius Brown scored 19 for Toledo (7-5), which erased most of a 14-point deficit by making 13 of 15 shots over a 9Β½-minute stretch. Brown's 3-pointer about 90 seconds into the second half cut Duke's lead to 47-44.

Okafor then reeled off seven straight points to start the decisive 21-9 spurt.

No. 7 GONZAGA 60, SAN DIEGO 48

SAN DIEGO (AP) β€” Kyle Wiltjer scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half and Gonzaga built a big enough lead to withstand a 7-minute scoring drought in the second half and beat San Diego.

Gonzaga (13-1, 2-0 West Coast Conference) won for the sixth time since its only loss, a 66-63 overtime defeat at Arizona on Dec. 6.

A year ago, the Toreros pulled off a 69-66 home upset of the Zags. This time, Gonzaga's size and athleticism were too much for the Toreros (7-7, 0-2) to handle.

Byron Wesley scored 12 points and Kevin Pangos had 10 for the Zags, held well below their average of 83.9 per game.

Johnny Dee had 20 points for San Diego to push his career total to 1,784, seven shy of breaking the school record set by Brandon Johnson from 2005-10.

No. 11 TEXAS 66, RICE 55

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) β€” Freshman big man Myles Turner scored 16 points in his first career start, and Texas held off an inspired Rice team in an afternoon game.

Turner, a highly recruited 6-foot-11 forward, shot 6 of 7 in his first start after 12 games as a reserve.

Jonathan Holmes scored 12 for Texas, including a three-point play that put the Longhorns (11-2) up six with 2:50 remaining.

Holmes' basket and free throw were part of a 13-0 run for the Longhorns, who led by just two with less than four minutes left.

Rice (3-8) went scoreless for 5:46 late in the game before scoring with 6 seconds to go.

Seth Gearhart led Rice with a career-best 24 points, 10 more than his average. He was 4 of 8 on 3-pointers.
