Braves trio leads Alcorn State past Selma 93-48

LORMAN, Miss. (AP) β€” A.J. Mosby, Reginal Johnson and Avery Patterson each scored 14 points to lead Alcorn State to a 93-48 win against Selma on Friday night.

Maurice Howard scored 12 points and Yalen Reed and Marquis Vance each added 11. Vance, a senior, needs five points to reach 1,000 for his career.

Alcorn State has won six straight home openers.

The Braves scored the game's first 13 points before Selma cut into the lead and trailed 25-16. Alcorn State then pulled away, and a tip-in by Johnson off a lob at the halftime buzzer made the score 42-22.

Reed got Alcorn State's crowd off its feet early in the second half with a thunderous dunk over a Selma defender. The Braves controlled the interior, outscoring Selma 42-20, and had a 64-37 rebounding advantage.

Devante Brown led Selma with 17 points.

Selma is a Division I-member of the NCCAA and lists an enrollment of 600 students.
