Louisiana-Lafayette escapes Delaware St. with an 83-82 win

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) β€” Frank Bartley IV scored 25 points and had five assists, Bryce Washington had 20 points and 14 rebounds and Louisiana-Lafayette held off Delaware State 83-82 on Monday night.

It was Washington's third double-double of the season as he entered the game averaging 16 points and 10.3 rebounds per contest.

Bartley made two free throws to give the Ragin' Cajuns a 52-49 lead with 14:34 to play. Louisiana-Lafayette (2-2) led 80-73 with 47 seconds to go when Kavon Waller made a layup, and Devon Morgan made a pair of free throws a layup and a 3 at the buzzer before the Hornets ran out of time.

The Ragin' Cajuns missed 13 free throws and Delaware State committed 26 fouls and had 17 turnovers.

Morgan led Delaware State with 23 points shooting 5 for 10 from 3 and passed out four assists. Delaware State (1-3) has lost three straight.

The game was part of the six-team Hardwood Showcase being played at campus sites through Nov. 27.
