Jacksonville State beats Dalton State 81-50

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) β€” Erik Durham and Andre Statam scored 14 points apiece and Jacksonville State shot 62.5 percent from long distance to beat Dalton State 81-50 in Tuesday night's home opener for the Gamecocks.

Statam hit all four of his 3-pointers for a career high, Norbertas Giga scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds and Malcom Drumwright scored 11 points for Jacksonville State (2-3).

Leading 33-21 at halftime, Giga's two free throws sparked an 11-0 run the Gamecocks used to pull ahead 53-35 in the second half. Drumwright scored a 3-pointer and a layup in the run and Jacksonville State led by as many as 33 points.

The Gamecocks made 10 of 16 3-pointers and outrebounded Dalton State 45-29, with freshman freshman Jacara Cross grabbing eight boards.

Carnilious Simmons scored 13 points with 10 rebounds and Mon'Darius Black added 11 points for the NAIA member Roadrunners (2-1).
