Virginia coach Tony Bennett got some advice from Clemson coach Dabo Swinney

MINNEAPOLIS — Virginia basketball coach Tony Bennett said he shared with his players a nugget of wisdom courtesy of a rival school's football coach.

That's right, a football coach -- Clemson's Dabo Swinney, whose team won the national football championship last season.

“I got a text from Dabo Swinney, who said let the light that shines in you be brighter than the light that shines on you," Bennett said after Virginia's 85-77 overtime win against Texas Tech in the title game.

Bennett was asked about guard Kyle Guy, who was named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.

"I love that quote. I don't know where it was, but I thought it was so good, and I shared it with the guys, and (Guy) has something in big games and makes plays — that it's just he has it in him," Bennett said.

“I know he's a young man of faith and he has great confidence in himself, and he's honest, and he's just got it. He did it again and made big shots, and I've seen that from -- you look at him, and he's not the most physical guy, but it's inside.’’

Guy, a junior guard, had 24 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field against Texas Tech.
