Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

Illinois jumps to No. 3, while Gonzaga still leads Ferris Mowers Men's Basketball Poll

Gonzaga remains at the top of the Ferris Mowers Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll with some conference championships in full swing and the major league wrapping up their regular-season schedules.

The Bulldogs, the last undefeated team in Division I, received all 31 first-place votes cast this week.

A few high-profile results caused shuffling among the rest of the top five. Baylor is back up to No. 2 on the eve of the Big 12 tournament. Illinois climbs to No. 3, edging ahead of Michigan after beating the Wolverines, who then split a home-and-home series with archrival Michigan State to close out the regular season. The Fighting Illini also defeated Ohio State on the road Saturday.

Illinois center Kofi Cockburn (21) goes to the basket while defended by Ohio State forward E.J. Liddell (32) at Value City Arena.

Alabama, the SEC regular-season champ, is now alone at No. 5 as West Virginia slides four places to No. 9. No. 6 Iowa and No. 10 Ohio State give the Big Ten a strong top-10 presence. Arkansas makes the biggest jump of the week, climbing five places to No. 8.
