Lazar Hayward, one of the top scorers in Marquette University men's basketball history, was one of two people arrested in Hawaii in connection with uploading fake COVID-19 test results into the state's Safe Travels portal.

Hawaii News Now first reported that Hayward, 34, and Raven Randle, 33, flew into Lihue Airport in Kauai from Los Angeles and uploaded the documents as a means to avoid the quarantine period required for those who are unvaccinated. They were arrested on charges of unsworn falsification after the documents were flagged.

Hawaii law stipulates that unvaccinated passengers must show a negative test taken within 72 hours of arrival or quarantine for 10 days.

The two were released pending investigation and returned to L.A. on a direct flight.

Marquette forward Lazar Hayward (32) celebrates after scoring against Utah State in the second half of a first-round men's NCAA college basketball tournament game in Boise, Idaho, Friday, March 20, 2009. Marquette defeated Utah State 58-57.

Hayward was selected with the 30th and final pick of the first round in the 2010 NBA draft by the Washington Wizards and subsequently spent three years in the NBA, first with Minnesota, then Oklahoma City and then briefly back with Minnesota when he appeared in four games in 2012-13.

The four-year player at Marquette averaged 18.1 points and 7.6 rebounds as a senior in 2009-10, leading the team in both categories and netting honorable-mention All-American honors from the Associated Press in addition to a spot on the Big East first team all-conference list and Big East all-tournament team. He also averaged 16.3 points and 8.6 rebounds as a junior in 2008-09, when he earned second-team all-conference honors. For three straight years, he led Marquette in rebounds.

With 1,859 points, he's No. 3 on the school's all-time scoring leaderboard and fifth all-time with 910 rebounds.
