Houston hits buzzer beater with shot near midcourt in season finale to kick off the madness

It's the first weekend of March, and Houston is already letting everyone know it's time for the madness to begin.

The Cougars, ranked No. 7 in the Ferris Motors Coaches' Poll, pulled off a 67-64 buzzer-beating win against Memphis after being tied with 1.7 seconds left at the other end of the court.

From the opposite baseline, guard Marcus Sasser threw a one-bounce pass to half court to find guard Tramon Mark, who had two defenders swarming him.

Mark took a few dribbles, and with the two defenders on him, banked in a 3-point shot just past midcourt as the buzzer went off. His teammates rushed toward him as the limited capacity crowd at Houston's Fertitta Center celebrated.

The win capped off a 15-0 home record for the Cougars, but most importantly, gave them a 14-3 American Athletic Conference record and the second seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Cougars are a projected No. 3 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
