Alabama fans spotted wearing ‘Killin’ our way through the SEC’ shirts at SEC tournament

Two fans at the men's Southeastern Conference tournament in Nashville wore shirts possibly referencing the murder of Jamea Harris.

Former Alabama player Darius Miles is charged in the shooting death of the 23-year-old woman.

Two men were spotted wearing the shirts inside Bridgestone Arena Saturday during the Crimson Tide's semifinal matchup against Missouri.

AL.com reported the front of the shirts read "GOATS" with the Alabama "A" logo, and the back of the shirts read "Killin’ our way through the SEC in ‘23."

The outlet said when a reporter asked one of the men wearing the shirt was wearing it, he said expletives to the reporter, and did it again when asked about the shirt again.

Shirts not allowed at SEC tournament final

SEC spokesperson Herb Vincent told AL.com that fans wearing the shirt would not be allowed to enter the arena for Alabama's matchup with Texas A&M in the conference tournament final. If fans put the shirts on inside the arena, they would be asked to leave, Vincent said.

The SEC fan ticket policy states tickets can be revoked if "user is disruptive, endangers others or uses vulgar, threatening or demeaning language."

USA TODAY has reached out to the SEC for comment.

What are the shirts referencing?

The shirts appear to reference the death of Harris, who was killed in a January shooting near the Alabama campus.

Prosecutors say Miles provided the gun used in the shooting to another man, Michael Davis, who shot Harris. Both men were indicted by a grand jury on capital murder charges, the Associated Press reported Friday

Current Alabama star Brandon Miller has drawn attention in the case after authorities said he delivered the gun on the night of the shooting, at the request of Miles. He has not been charged with a crime as he continued to play for the Crimson Tide, which has been scrutinized by Harris' family

The Associated Press SEC player and newcomer of the year gave his first comments on the shooting Wednesday, saying he will "never lose sight of the fact that a family has lost one of their loved ones."

"This whole situation is just really heartbreaking, but respectfully that’s all I’m going to be able to say on that," Miller said.
