Go figure: The wacky, weird and wow from the weekend

Notable performances and accomplishments from the college football weekend, by the numbers.

1: Career touchdown passes for Kent State slotback Dri Archer, who found quarterback Spencer Keith for a 24-yard score and a lead the Golden Flashes wouldn't relinquish in a 31-17 win at Army. Archer, who leads the nation in all-purpose yards (229.2 a game), also ran for 222 yards and a TD on 12 carries as Kent State moved to 5-1 for the first time since 1973.

1: Unbeaten team remaining in ACC play, Maryland. The Terrapins (4-2), who won only two games all last year, are 2-0 in conference after a 27-20 win at Virginia.

3: Touchdown passes by Navy's Keenan Reynolds, most by a Navy QB in a game since 1997, in a 31-13 win at Central Michigan. Reynolds was making his first start for the Midshipmen.

6: Touchdowns on returns this season for Phil Terio of Salve Regina (R.I.). He has tied the Division III season record with at least three games to play for the 7-0 Seahawks. He has four TDs on interceptions (already a Division III season record), one on a punt return and Saturday scored on a 93-yard kickoff return in a 37-33 win vs. Curry (Mass.). Terio also sealed the win with an interception at the Seahawks' 7-yard line with 15 seconds left.

8: Combined passes attempted by Georgia Southern and Wofford, an FCS record for fewest in a game, in a 17-9 Georgia Southern win. GSU did not throw a pass. The old mark of 11 had been set three times, most recently in 1994 when GSU threw eight times and The Citadel three.

11: Plays from scrimmage of at least 20 yards for Texas Tech in its 49-14 rout of West Virginia. In their first five games, the Red Raiders had 25 such plays combined.

12: Consecutive games in which San Jose State DE Travis Johnson has at least one tackle for loss, the longest active streak in FBS. He had one Saturday in a 49-27 loss to Utah State and has 13Β½ this season, including 7Β½ sacks.

15: Consecutive losses by Tulane, the longest active skid in FBS, before a 27-26 win against Southern Methodist. Ryan Griffin, a senior QB who had missed the last three games (shoulder), capped a five-play, 68-yard drive with a 16-yard pass to Rob Kelley with 35 seconds left.

16: Consecutive losses in SEC play by Mississippi before a 41-20 win against Auburn. The Tigers are 0-4 in league play for the first time since 1980.

24: Points by which Mississippi Valley State beat Grambling (45-21), its biggest margin in 55 meetings with the Tigers. The Delta Devils ended a 13-game losing streak in the series.

27: Years Indiana State has been in the Missouri Valley Football Conference before winning three consecutive conference games on the road. The third came Saturday, 17-14 against top-ranked and defending FCS champion North Dakota State, the Sycamores' first-ever win against a No. 1 team.

35.7: Scoring average this season for Division II Abilene (Texas) Christian before losing 36-0 at West Texas A&M. ACU was shut out for the first time in 121 games dating to 2001 and blanked by a team that it scored 93 points against in a 2008 playoff game. West Texas A&M had eight sacks

72: Career touchdowns by Wisconsin's Montee Ball, a Big Ten record and six shy of the FBS record by Travis Prentice of Miami (Ohio) from 1996-99. Ball had three scores Saturday along with a career-best 247 yards rushing in a 38-14 win at Purdue to top the league mark set by Wisconsin's Ron Dayne in 1999.

73: Years since Oregon State started a season 5-0. The Beavers got there Saturday with a 42-24 win at Brigham Young. QB Cody Vaz, in his first start since high school, passed for 332 yards and three scores.

87: Points allowed in consecutive games by unbeaten Ohio State, most in any two-game span in school history, after a 52-49 win at Indiana.

89: Years since Division III Wisconsin-Oshkosh has opened 6-0 before getting there this year with a 34-13 win against Wisconsin-Platteville. The 1923 team that started 6-0 finished 7-0. Next for this year's Oshkosh team? Defending national champion Wisconsin-Whitewater, a team to which it's lost nine in a row.

91: Games in Big East play before Temple managed consecutive wins. The Owls never led in regulation Saturday but beat Connecticut 17-14 in overtime after beating South Florida in their Big East opener.

91.3: Completion percentage for Tennessee-Martin's Derek Carr (42-for-46), an FCS record for a game with at least 30 completions, in a 66-59 win at Murray State. The old mark of 91.2% was set last year by Richmond's Aaron Corp (31-for-34) in a loss to Towson. Carr passed for 560 yards and seven TDs to outduel Murray's Casey Brockman (537 yards, 8 TDs). The teams also set FCS records for combined total offense (1,440 yards), combined TD passes (15) and combined pass completions (87).

162: Consecutive games in which Brown had scored, an Ivy League record, before losing 19-0 at Princeton.

305: Unanswered points by Mount Union (Ohio), the top-ranked team in Division III. The Purple Raiders (6-0) have not allowed a point since the 13:50 mark of the fourth quarter of their season opener after beating Capital (Ohio) 62-0.

576: Yards of total offense, setting school and Southeastern Conference records, by Texas A&M redshirt freshman Johnny Manziel, He accounted for six TDs while rushing for 181 yards and passing for 395 in a 59-57 win against Louisiana Tech. The teams combined for 1,293 yards of offense β€” and 260 yards in penalties.
