College Football Playoff rankings: Alabama leads Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson

The top four of this week's College Football Playoff rankings look a lot like last week's rankings.

Like the previous three weeks, Alabama is again No. 1. Ohio State remains second followed by Michigan and Clemson.

Washington rounds out the top five after moving up one spot.

The biggest loser in this week's ranking is Louisville. The Cardinals dropped six spots to No. 11 after their loss to Houston which likely ended their playoff hopes.

Ohio State and Michigan give the Big Ten two teams in the top four. That will change next week with the Buckeyes and Wolverines set to face off in Columbus. That could open the door for Washington or maybe No. 6 Wisconsin to move into the projected field.

The Badgers are the top-ranked team with two losses. A win against Minnesota would put them in the Big Ten championship game against either Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. The Nittany Lions, ranked seventh, would win the East division with a defeat of Michigan State and a loss by the Wolverines against the Buckeyes.

Oklahoma only moved up one spot to No. 8 after beating then-No. 14 West Virginia on the road by 28 points.

Colorado and Oklahoma State complete the top 10.

The Sooners and Cowboys will meet in a de facto Big 12 title game on Dec. 2. But with both behind four Big Ten teams, it looks unlikely for either to make the field without some major upsets in the final two weeks.

In the race for the Group of Five bowl, Boise State is two spots ahead of Western Michigan. However, the Broncos must be a conference champion to be selected. They need Wyoming to lose at New Mexico to play in the Mountain West championship game.

The top four teams in final ranking of the committee on Dec. 3 will play in the College Football Playoff. The semifinals will take place on Dec. 31 at the Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl. The championship game will be held on Jan. 9 in Tampa, Fla.
