Predicting Tuesday's College Football Playoff top 25

Cody Kellner

As the nation’s four highest-ranked teams in the College Football Playoff rankings went a combined 4-0 in Week 12, no change is projected in regards to this week’s selection committee top four.

Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, and Clemson are each projected to maintain a top-four ranking this week. Oklahoma is projected to be the highest-ranked Big 12 school with the No. 6 ranking, while Louisville is projected to fall to seven spots No. 12 after its loss to Houston.

Houston, meanwhile, is expected to return to the top 25 at No. 20. That would place the Cougars two spots behind the lone unbeaten Group of Five team, Western Michigan, whose strength of schedule ranking of 126 continues to keep the Broncos outside of the CFP top 15.

Wisconsin and Penn State are projected to join Ohio State and Michigan in the top seven. If the Badgers or Nittany Lions can win in Week 13 and to on to win the Big Ten Conference title, their résumé could land them in the Playoff. Wisconsin and Penn State have each strength of schedule rankings better than every team in the projected CFP top four with the exception of Ohio State, who has played the nation’s 18th-most difficult schedule.

The information used to determine the projected Playoff top 25 are previous CFP rankings, the Cody Kellner Points Index Computer Ratings and conference affiliation. The full projected top 25 and the five teams that just missed are below:
