Bowling Green QB Matt McDonald runs for 47-yard TD after faking kneel-down

The game between Bowling Green and Buffalo on Saturday at UB Stadium was ... strange.

First, the Falcons' Scot Loeffler became the first FBS head coach to be ejected from a game since unsportsmanlike conduct rules were tweaked in 2016 when he received penalties on back-to-back drives.

The game turned into a complete shootout in his absence, with Bowling Green and Buffalo combining for seven touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The final of those was the strangest one.

Clinging to a 49-44 lead, Flacons quarterback Matt McDonald took the snap and dropped back looking like he was going to take a delayed knee. That would have made sense, considering there was less than a minute left in the game and Buffalo had only one timeout and it was second down.

But McDonald did not take a knee. After feigning the kneel-down, McDonald scrambled away from the (understandably) surprised Bulls and made it all the way to the end zone for a 47-yard touchdown ā€“ with the CBS Sports Network announcing team saying he should go down the entire time.

It put an odd exclamation point on a 56-44 win that improved Bowling Green to 3-6 on the year.

"I've seen it all now," the color analyst exclaimed.

It also capped a magnificent day for McDonald. The run was his fifth touchdown, the first four coming through the air as he completed 13-of-19 passes for 263 yards.

Bowling Green scored 28 points in the 18 minutes after Loeffler's ejection ā€“ more points than it had scored in any full game over the last two seasons.
