Starting quarterback Casey Pachall will not play again for TCU this season.

Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson announced Tuesday that the junior is leaving school to seek inpatient treatment at a drug and alcohol facility after his arrest last week on drunk driving charges.

"We want to make sure we can make this turn into a positive," Patterson said, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "Casey's parents, Casey and I, we all agreed that there was only one way to change the path he was on - to step away from it."

Pachall was suspended indefinitely and missed last week's loss to Iowa State. He previously avoided punishment after admitting to using marijuana when his roomate, former TCU linebacker Tanner Brock, was arrest this summer.

Patterson is leaving the door open for Pachall to return. He is eligible to enroll in school this spring and return to the team next season.

"I've got a young football team and a person who obviously needs help,"
Patterson told the Associated Press last weeek. "Until I can come up with some
answers, it's not about one season, it's about a lot of seasons."

Trevone Boykin started in place of Pachall and completed 23 of 40 passes for 270 yard. However, the freshman also was intercepted three times, and the Horned Frogs saw their 12-game winning streak end.

Up next is a trip to Baylor as the school continues its first season in the Big 12.
