Oklahoma dismisses running back Mikey Henderson after connection to alleged armed robbery

NORMAN, Okla. β€” Oklahoma football coach Lincoln Riley announced the dismissal of sophomore running back Mikey Henderson from the program Tuesday evening.

According to a report from SI Sooners, the Norman Police Department submitted a request for an arrest warrant to the Cleveland County District Attorney's office for Henderson earlier in the day.

Norman Police public information officer Sarah Jensen told SI Sooners that investigators determined that Henderson is the third party involved in an alleged armed robbery on April 15 at the Crimson Park Apartments.

The other two parties were former Oklahoma players Trejan Bridges and Seth McGowan. Both players were dismissed from the program on May 6. Arrest warrants were issued on May 7.

While it remains unclear what Henderson's exact involvement in the incident was, the victim claimed the trio robbed him after he refused to sell McGowan marijuana.

The victim told officers that Bridges pointed a handgun at him, assaulted him and threatened to kill him during the alleged robbery. Police later searched Bridges' apartment and reported finding a .45-caliber Glock handgun and "a bag of green substance appearing to be marijuana."

Henderson is a former four-star recruit who rushed for 249 total yards and two touchdowns as a freshman last season.
