  • School did not mention coach's status for next game, Saturday at Wisconsin

Minnesota coach Jerry Kill has been released from the hospital a day after he had a seizure in the locker room after a loss to Northwestern.

University physician Pat Smith issued a statement Sunday saying Kill, 51, has been treated and is "in excellent health." Kill has struggled with seizures for years, including several times last season in his first year with Minnesota.

School officials did not provide a status for the next game, Saturday at Wisconsin. But Kill has never missed a game because of seizures and Smith said the coach plans to be back in the office M onday.

Smith said Kill's "only concern is his team and staff, and he is excited to resume his normal coaching duties as Minnesota prepares for Wisconsin this week."

Kill had a seizure during a game last season against New Mexico State.

Asked about his health just a couple of weeks ago after the Gophers had started 4-0, Kill told USA TODAY Sports, "I'm doing great. I'm feeling great."
