Hawaii football team honors late Colt Brennan with No. 15 helmet decal
The Hawaii football team's season-long remembrance of a late program great began Saturday.
A No. "15" decal on every Rainbow Warriors player's helmet, in honor of former quarterback Colt Brennan, debuted against the UCLA Bruins.
Brennan, who set multiple NCAA passing records during a prolific and successful career at Hawaii, died in May at 37 after ingesting a substance laced with fentanyl. He led Hawaii to an undefeated 2007 season and a matchup against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
The decal is displayed on the left side of the helmets, underneath the string of islands.
"It's all in the details," the Rainbow Warriors' team account wrote on Twitter on Friday.
Hawaii fell to UCLA, 44-10, in the season opener.
